MPI-NJ Awards and Recognition 2011-2012
The New Jersey Chapter semi-annually gathers together to recognize the talents, skills, accomplishments and dedication of our members and industry colleagues to award and recognize those members that have contributed to the growth of MPI New Jersey.

These two awards are for the most professional and most dedicated individuals whose contributions further the aims of MPI-NJ and its members. These awards recognize an extraordinarily committed professional who has achieved success and is recognized in the profession. Preference will be given to the candidate who is an active participant in the meeting planning industry and who has contributed to the growth and professionalism of our industry. Specific areas of consideration are: professional code of conduct; fairness and honesty; ability to listen; integrity and MPI-NJ involvement.

This annual award recognizes the commitment of a chapter member in influencing the life of MPI-NJ. The award is based on the ability of the recipient to motivate others, stimulate volunteer functions, give a sense of direction, and act as a catalyst to cause exceptional results that benefit the Chapter. This person has served or is serving as a Chapter Officer, Director, Committee Chairperson or Committee Member and may have been involved in industry and/or community service. The Outstanding Chapter Leader of the Year has benefited the Chapter by acting on or developing a specific program or project which has produced measurable results.
The Following Three Awards: Rising Star, Committe of the Year and Student Leader of the Year are selected by the MPI-New Jersey Board of Directors

2011 Rising Star
This award is to recognize dedicated individuals who became a member of MPI-NJ no earlier than July 1, 2010. Consideration should be given to those who have shown enthusiastic involvement and leadership ability in the chapter on a committee, function or event of MPI-NJ, and to further the aims of MPI and its members. The award may be presented to a Planner or a Supplier.
The following criteria will be given strong consideration:
(1) Rising Star has served on the Chapter level as Officer, Director, Committee Chair or Committee member
(2) Has received professional recognition through published articles in International or Chapter publications
(3) Has provided leadership to a function or event of MPI-NJ

2011 Committee of the Year – The Outreach Committee
Lori Battista and Nancy Sutta-Berns
This recognition is made to the Chair and Committee members of an MPI-NJ committee, whose efforts during the year have been recognized as outstanding by measuring the achievement of committee goals and objectives. The committee(s) with distinguished and notable service will be selected by the MPI-NJ Board of Directors.

Student Leader of the Year - Linda Santangelo-Mosley
This new award was presented for the first time this year. It honors a student member whose most recent contributions have demonstrated his or her dedication to the chapter and who shows promise as a future leader in the chapter through education and a desire to pursue a career in the hospitality industry.

2011 Facility of the Year - The Westin Jersey City
The Facility of the Year award is presented in recognition of a facility that has exceeded expected performance by providing outstanding and conspicuous service at an MPI-NJ Chapter Program or Event during the year.

Excellence in Education - Gary Giberson, CEC Greening Your Event: Understanding Sustainabilty
The Excellence in Education Award is presented in recognition of a speaker/presenter that has exceeded expected performance by providing outstanding educational value at an MPI-NJ Chapter Program or Event during the year.
Chapter members completing the survey at MPI-NJ’s monthly educational programs choose the “Facility of the Year” and “Excellence in Education Award” by rating facilities and speakers. In the case of a tie, the Education Committee will take a vote to break the tie.
