MPI-NJ Scholarship Guidelines

The NJ Chapter of MPI has established a scholarship program to provide educational opportunities to our members and encourage involvement in Meeting Professionals International.

The New Jersey Chapter is accepting applications from qualified members for the financial support of those selected members to further their professional education in the meetings/hospitality industry. 

  • MPI-NJ Chapter is offering two $2,800 scholarships to attend the following educational programs:

1.    Attend Word Education Congress (WEC) -2011.  Scholarship is worth $2,800 July 23-26, 2011 in Orlando, FL.

2.    Choice of CMP/CMM/Professional Education Classes or any other event/class deemed educational. Scholarship is worth $2,800:

3.    Professional Classes at Colleges/Universities (winners’ choice of college/University which offers classes/certificates/degrees in Hospitality-Meeting Planning).  MPI-NJ Chapter monthly education programs are not eligible.

  • Any MPI-NJ chapter member in good standing for a minimum of one (1) year and who has not been a recipient for the previous two (2) years is eligible to apply for the scholarship program.   The President and President Elect of the Chapter are ineligible.
  • Applications must be received by MPI-NJ office before April 20, 2011
  • All members of the scholarship committee will review applications and selections will be made based on the applicant’s MPI and MPI-NJ Chapter involvement and personal statement. The Board of Directors has approved this process.
  • Scholarship funds will be used to defray costs for the recipient to attend the required educational conference for which the application is being submitted.  Failure to use the scholarship for the stated educational conferences will result in forfeiture of funds.  Unused funds will revert to the MPI-NJ chapter scholarship fund.
  • Scholarship funds will be paid either directly by MPI-NJ or reimbursed to Scholarship recipient when copies all proper documentation is received.
  • Costs above the amount of the scholarship ($2,800) are the responsibility of the member; incidental expenses are not eligible and are the responsibility of recipient.
  • Recipient will be recognized in the NJ Chapter newsletter and at a monthly educational meeting.
  • By 30 days following WEC conference, recipients will be required to present a report/article to MPI-NJ Chapter recapping the courses attended and covering highlights of their experience, which will be published in our onSite newsletter.
  • All scholarships are non-transferable.
